This is what the technique of Write, Pair, Share looks like in a large classroom. Undergraduate students have been asked to write a responses to a case study, discuss their ideas with a partner and then share their thoughts with the whole class. In this class, some of the questions were answered using a clicker/student response system, so the prof and students could monitor the entire classes response.
